Dura-Belt is a master distributor for Hutchinson ConveyXonic High Tension, PJ-profile Poly-V® powered roller belts (also called PolyVee, multi-rib belts,V-ribbed belts, poly ribbed belts and Micro-V® belts). ConveyXonic long-life, low maintenance, truly endless, elastic, stretchy nylon reinforced, rubber belts can greatly extend the capabilities of powered roller (MDR) conveyors: 1. While our round belts work better on curves, and our urethane belts require less energy and therefore less powerful and lower cost motorized drive rollers than PolyVee belts, ConveyXonic Poly-V belts can move heavier boxes at higher speeds on longer zones and stop much quicker. They can also work on round and square grooved pulleys because their soft ribs compress and conform to the grooves, although they slip easier than on poly-v grooved pulleys. 2. ConveyXonic PJ-profile belts can move extremely heavy loads on large 2.5" (60mm) rollers, including pallets weighing up to 3,000 lbs* (1360 kg), or boxes weighing up to 260 lbs/roller* (118 kg/roller). Driving force can be easily magnified by adding more ribs. For maximum weight/roller on 1.9" rollers with PJ-profile and 2.5" rollers with PK-profile, click here. 3. PolyVee belts move loads smoothly over a wider speed range -- up to 800 feet per minute (4 m/s). 4. Poly-V belts allow one motorized roller to power up to 20 rollers with high torque, i.e., very little reduction in rpm or torque. This means that each slave roller can provide nearly the same driving force as the motorized roller. 5. Our new HEHT round belts will not roll out of grooves or abrade on curves like Poly-V belts do (see 9. below), and our HEHT belts can also move up to 20 rollers per zone, but ConveyXonic Poly-V belts can move low weight boxes up to 50 rollers per zone -- 25 on each side of a high power MDR.) 6. Nylon reinforcements in ConveyXonic belts are slightly elastic. This allows them to stretch 2% to 7% so that the belts will perform well over the typical center distance tolerance range (+/- 1/16”) found on most conveyor frames. 7. Plastic PolyVee endcaps (also called hubs or inserts) are available for 1.9" and 50mm conveyor rollers. They can move loads weighing up to 1100 lbs (500kg). Dura-Belt's high quality Poly-V endcaps are extremely twist resistant and very cost competitive. 8. Alignment. Pulley grooves on adjacent rollers must be aligned within one degree. Otherwise, the belts will abrade. See How to Prevent Poly-V failures. Alignment washers take up the slack between frames, forcing standard spring-loaded rollers into alignment. Rollers that are screwed to the frame (like those provided by Interroll) do not need alignment washers. 9. POLY-V belts and ConveyDyn belts on curves. 10. Poly-V belts are excellent replacements for chains on pallet conveyors. Ribbed roller endcaps (also called hubs) made from steel take the place of sprockets. In many applications poly-v belts work better, as they usually last considerably longer and eliminate the noise, grease and dirt associated with steel chains. Click here to see our poly-v endcaps for 2.5" rollers. 11. Designed to work even in dusty environments, the tips of the belt’s Poly-v ribs are truncated so they do not extend to the bottom of the pulley’s grooves. This provides an open space where dust can accumulate. The belt’s nylon reinforcements produce enough tension to force dust into this slot. As the pulley rotates, the dust usually falls out of the pulley. Nevertheless, if there is any doubt about the operating environment, we recommend testing a section of the conveyor in the environment where it will be used. 12. Installation Instructions. The force required to install Poly-V (multi-rib, V-ribbed, Micro-V) belts is about 25 lbs (11kg) per rib. The best way to install them is to use the roller as a lever. Simply remove the roller and place it through the belt on top of the adjacent roller so that the belt is around both rollers in the appropriate poly-v endcap grooves. Then insert the roller shaft on the poly-v endcap side into the frame hole, which will be used as the fulcrum. Now grasp the other end of the roller as if it were a lever and push/pull it until its shaft pops into the opposite frame hole. Repeat this process for each roller. 13. Temperature range for standard ConveyXonic belts 14. ConveyXonic belts are anti-static in compliance 15. Chemical resistance. Water, alcohol, and alkali (up to pH 10) resistant. Not recommended for acid, oil or grease environments. 16. CAUTION: Since Motorized Drive Rollers (MDRs) do not have through shafts, their load rating capacity is much lower than standard conveyor rollers. Therefore, they are not recommended for use at the end of roller zones, especially where flat belts are used. For the recommended location of MDRs on flat belt zones, click here. Hazard Warning: Protective finger guards or safety shields are required by OSHA over or under poly-v belts wherever people may come in contact with them. Poly-V belts do not stretch enough to accommodate objects caught underneath them so they create pinch points. Moreover, poly-v endcaps have sharp ribs that create additional nip points that can severely damage fingers or pull hair, jewelry or clothing caught in them. Low horsepower (24 volt) motors do not mitigate the need for shields, as the force per unit area on a rib's edge is very large.

Test Results: Dura-Belt only sells the very best performing, highest quality products, so before becoming a ConveyXonic master distributor, we tested these belts for 4 years. See ConveyXonic comparative test results.
* These maximum box weights are based on Hutchinson's brochure for ideal applications and may be significantly reduced by other factors including the number, type and weight of rollers (plastic or metal), their coefficient of friction and TIR, bearing type and lubrication, incline/decline angle, ambient temperature, motor type, location, horsepower and speed, box material and dimensions, belt tension, roller tube wall-thickness, roller length, acceleration/deceleration, as well as center distance between rollers, including pallet's number and position of point(s) of contact with roller and availability of internal tube support between tube and shaft (usually half way between endcaps). We do not manufacturer conveyor rollers, so verify capacity with your roller manufacturer before making a significant purchase. For example, the maximum box weight is reduced to 50 lbs (25 kg) for 2-rib poly-v belts with seventeen 1.9" steel rollers on each side of the motorized drive roller.
